About

I’ve always enjoyed baking and I think it’s something that I’ve picked up from my mum. She was always baking for family and friends, and I remember helping out as a kid. I really only started to bake on my own when I went away to university, baking the occasional treats for my flatmates and then-boyfriend (now husband).

I’ve always had a fair amount of confidence in my ability to follow recipes (I’m a scientist by trade so precision is second nature to me), but where I’ve struggled is in making things look pretty. I’ve been getting inspiration from the many talented bakers out there and working hard at improving on presentation. This is crucial as I’m no longer satisfied with just being a competent home-baker – I’m attempting to venture out into the scary world of food start-ups! The immediate goal for the moment is to open a stall at one of the local markets in London and build-up some online business.

So this blog is my way of introducing myself and my products and I’d really love to hear from you!

I came across your blog accidentally. Great of you to share your experience with us. I live in Hawaii and have a small home based cake and dessert business, though my main business is my family(4kids). The best part of finding your blog is my maiden name is Ching! My business is called Ching Cakes and Confections : )

I look forward to your success and of course more blog entries!
    Aloha,
    Clarisse

Hi Clarisse, thank you very much for taking the time to read my blog and for your lovely message. It’s always nice to meet a fellow Ching! Wow, raising 4 kids and running your own business is impressive. I would love to visit Hawaii some day. Thanks again for stopping by and I wish you all the best with your family and business too!
